At Jacobs Wells Community Hub we cannot quite believe the quality, consistency and generosity of support we have been given by Jen Gerrard for our local not for profit community group.
Thank you for enabling us to operate without an official treasurer in post, knowing that the scrutiny of Gerrard Financial has reduced the financial risk to our community of volunteers. We have successfully applied for small project grants knowing our accounts can bear further scrutiny and Receipt Bank is so easy to use that, despite lack of specialist knowledge, we have felt empowered to keep up to date with our record-keeping rather than becoming overwhelmed. Our income is tiny, but accounts that may seem simple for people versed in charity accounting would be utterly impossible for our group to produce.
We are not a registered charity but have been managing restricted grants and Jen Gerrard has waved a magic wand over our data to produce the information we need to give. We can only recommend GFC wholeheartedly.
We are a national charity based in Tetbury, Gloucestershire. GFC was engaged to support us through the development of improved financial processes, management reporting, and year-end financial reporting to our auditors.
Key factors in the decision to go ahead with a migration to QBO Plus and Receipt Bank, included the fact that the new system allowed us to automate certain processes, saving the charity time and money. The time spent on manual processing could then be utilised in other areas. We also no longer needed to worry about system back-ups and the finance department could work remotely when needed. Receipt Bank meant that all documentation would be available to view through QBO Plus, allowing us to go paperless and make the audit process easier to manage.
The migration was very straight forward. We provided GFC with information from the old system (Sage 50) and they handled most of the migration. Quick and painless. Whilst setting up the new coding structure, we really benefited from working with an expert in charities – understanding how to account for certain things from a Charities SORP2015 perspective and also from an audit perspective. Jen Gerrard is a pleasure to work with and has provided us with invaluable knowledge and support – this has been of real benefit to the Charity.
Fantastic report back from the team about your half day training tutorial. Apart from anything else, they were very impressed at the amount covered and practiced – commenting ‘as good as a full day training’ and ‘the best ever’.
Jen reviewed the entire budget setting, monitoring and reporting functions …. and then developed improved systems in consultation with the management team that much better meet the finance needs of the organisation. She supported us through the implementation of these changes and ensured that the finance team were fully confident in working with the new tools.
Thank you so much – it very much meets our identified training needs and will be helpful as we look for efficiencies and reducing duplication in data handling. Very grateful also for the resources sent afterwards. We’ve already implemented the use of the ‘consolidation’ function to streamline budget and cash flow work.

GFC set up QuickBooks Online Plus for us; reviewing and streamlining our chart of accounts and providing training for us to be able to use the software.
Above and beyond Jen and GFC were a pleasure to work with. Looking forward to meeting with your bookkeeper/accountant is essential as sometimes this is a challenging aspect of running a Not For Profit.
GFC were vital to the implementation of our new finance system, including the set up of a complete and well structured chart of accounts and associated reporting system. Jen’s knowledge of third sector accounting was a huge support and took the strain out of ensuring financial compliance.
The GFC team are very organised and efficient. Where something can be usefully automated it is. Where a personal discussion is needed it happens.
